The Perfect Pizza Dough

Contributed by: News Canada

(NC) - Once you see how simple pizzas are to make in a Cuisinart food processor, you will never succumb to delivery again!

Ingredients:

Cuisinart Small Appliances DLC-2011 Prep 11Plus 11-Cup Food Processor
  • 1-1/2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup warm water (105 - 115 F)
  • 2-1/3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1-1/2 tsp extra-virgin olive oil

Directions:

In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until foamy, about 3-5 minutes. Insert dough blade in workbowl and add flour, salt and 1 teaspoon olive oil.

With Cuisinart 11-cup food processor running on dough speed, pour liquid through small feed tube as fast as flour will absorb it. Process until dough cleans sides of work bowl and forms a ball. Then process for 30 seconds to knead dough. Dough may be sticky. Coat evenly with 1/2 teaspoon olive oil; transfer to plastic storage bag and seal the top. Let rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes. While dough is rising, start slicing and shredding pizza toppings.

Place dough on a lightly floured surface and punch down. Roll into desired crust sizes. Add toppings and bake at 500 F for approx 10-12 minutes until edges of pizza are golden brown.
