Here are some helpful pointers on hosting a successful summer party.
The first step is your invitations. Try to be creative, for example send a puzzle piece and invite your guests to be part of the completed picture. Or you can design creative and fun invitations with your PC using color and graphics. If you don't own a computer let your artistic juices flow with hand printed versions. Your guests will appreciate the personal touch.
Theme parties are always fun and set the tone for a memorable evening. Make sure you plan lots of outdoor activities (weather permitting) that relate to the theme you have chosen.
When planning your menu, be sure to include fun, trendy foods.
Never try to entertain more guests than you can comfortably accommodate.
Be aware of food allergies. Try to have several options available for guests who can't enjoy certain foods due to allergies.
Make sure you prep your bathroom for the onslaught of guests it will soon face by stacking it with extra hand towels and potpourri.
Keep the temperature in your home cool and comfortable for the party.
Play some appropriate music in the background (a must for theme parties). It helps set the mood.
When receiving a gift, take the person aside later or thank them with a phone call the next day.
Last call! To subtlely hint to your guests that the party is winding down bring out the coffee and dessert. And if that doesn't give them the clue, call security! Keep it light and fun and remember to always drink responsibly.
