Don't Play The Weight Blame-Shame Game!

Contributed by: NAPSA

(NAPSA) - Our weight-obsessed society has made the scale front-page news. Whether you've got too much of it or too little, the media- created pressure to be "perfect" is wreaking havoc with our images of health and beauty.

Fat and Furious: Overcome Your Body's Resistance To Weight Loss Now!
Holistic health expert Loree Taylor Jordan, CCH, ID has authored "Fat and Furious: Overcome Your Body's Resistance To Weight Loss Now!" (Madison Publishing, $19.95), a new book that rails against society's pressure to be thin. She dispels the myth that people gain weight only because they eat excessively or don't work out enough. Jordan, a reformed career yo-yo dieter herself, presents startling evidence that being fat may not be your fault. A medical condition or genetics can greatly influence one's ability to diet successfully.

"You may think you can lose weight if you starve yourself and work out all the time, but you won't unless you take into account your biochemistry and mental attitude towards dieting," Jordan says.

That's why Jordan urges people to get informed and get angry. Get over the shame, frustration and humiliation of misdiagnosis by mainstream doctors. Throw out rigid exercise routines, lists of foods you can and can't eat, and other quick-fix gimmicks. In her book, Jordan emphasizes that people should look into whether they have a medical condition that may limit their ability to lose weight safely.

"It may be that your body is hormonally resistant to losing weight," she says. Many doctors, personal trainers and people in the diet industry are failing to inform, diagnose and treat your body for a metabolic disorder that Jordan thinks could be the source of your weight control frustration.

Among the things Jordan advocates to seize control of your health are:

  • Getting your body chemistry tested to learn what diet is right for you.

  • Realizing that no one diet fits all. Obesity is not necessarily about overeating. It's not a crime; it's a medical issue. A diet should be customized for the individual.

  • Taking into account the emotional issues and stress buttons that adversely trigger bad eating habits and that keep health and happiness linked to food.

  • Searching your belief system when it comes to food, altering lifestyle habits and, most of all, loving yourself no matter what.
