Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

(NC) - Hallowe'en and Thanksgiving are coming up and it's a great time to involve everyone in the preparations. Get into the spirit by decorating your home with dried fall flowers and a basket filled with miniature pumpkins and squash. There are many ways you can involve the person with Alzheimer's disease that you are caring for help you celebrate the occasion. For example, helping you choose decorations and preparing this easy recipe for roasted pumpkin seeds can be fun and it helps everyone feel valued and included in the family circle.


  • 1 1/2 cups of raw whole pumpkin seeds
  • 2 teaspoons of butter, melted
  • 1 pinch of salt


Preheat oven to 300 F.

Cut the top of a pumpkin and using a large spoon, remove the seeds and place in a bowl.

Toss seeds in a bowl with the melted butter and salt.

Spread the seeds in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown; stir occasionally.
