Preserving Fresh Garden Flavor All Year Round

(NAPSA) - If you enjoy the flavor of fresh produce, there's an easy way to savor it throughout the year-canning your garden's prized harvest. Canning everything from tomatoes and pickles to peaches and preserves means having that fresh-from-the-garden taste at a moment's notice.

White House Marinated Cucumbers
Using quality vinegar is essential in achieving consistent results and to ensure you preserve the taste and natural colors of your fruits and vegetables.

A trusted choice used by canners for nearly 100 years, White House White Distilled Vinegar delivers the same acidity every time. It helps that it's made from all natural, pure grain, while some others are made from a distilled petroleum-based product.

Canned chutneys and preserves also make wonderful gifts for the holiday season. By giving homemade chutneys and preserves, you can share the taste of summer with your friends and family members.

If you don't have time to can your favorite fruits and veggies but love that fresh-from-the-garden flavor, try marinating cucumbers in White House Apple Cider Vinegar.

This quick and easy recipe makes cucumbers come alive with flavor, and the vinegar will preserve their brilliant green color. It's great for your outdoor picnics and barbecues and will leave your guests asking for more.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 1 red or green pepper, cut into strips
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup White House Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed

Directions:

Combine in large bowl cucumbers, peppers and onions.

Combine in small bowl sugar, salt, celery seed and vinegar and blend. Pour over the cucumber mixture and toss to coat well.

Cover and refrigerate at least 24 hours-stirring occasionally.

If desired, drain before serving.
