Contributed by: Chris WebAdmin. of RecipesNow.com (NC) - When it comes to creating a romantic evening, dinner and wine may be the first thing that comes to mind - as it has for young lovers from the beginning of time. In fact, it would appear that the "Old World" cultures of men and women have simply thrived on the combination, so why not start your evening with one of the more romantic wines of the world - the Spanish sparkling wine they call a cava - and then serve an equally romantic, Mediterranean meal. Here is a traditional Old World recipe, which includes and suggests the famous cavas of Freixenet. Ingredients:
Directions: Heat olive oil in medium fry pan. Add minced onion and saute until transparent, 10 minutes. Add chopped tomatoes, saute 2 minutes. Add salt, pepper & chili powder. Cook 2 minutes, then add sparkling wine and reduce liquid until almost one-half. Add mussels. Cover pan and cook until mussels have opened. Garnish with finely minced parsley. |
