Apple Mint Chutney

Add Instant Flavour With Less Calories

(NC) - Let's face it, eating healthy and fabulous flavour don't always go hand in hand. To add a kick to your meals while keeping the calories down, turn to spicy and savoury chutneys and salsas. Apple Mint Chutney
Prep Time: 45 minutes - Cooking Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes


  • 2 cups (500mL) fresh mint, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup (125mL) Italian parsley, chopped
  • 3 cups (750mL) Granny Smith apples, diced and peeled
  • 1 cup (250mL) red onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup (125mL) sultana raisins
  • 1 cup (250mL) Splenda Brown Sugar Blend
  • 2 cups (500mL) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp (15mL) whole mustard seed
  • 1 tbsp (15mL) coriander seed
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tbsp (15mL) coarse salt
  • 3- 2 oz. (57g) packages of pectin crystals


Combine all the ingredients, except for pectin, in a large stainless steel pot.

Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer, stirring often for approximately 1 hour.

Add three 2 oz (57g) packages of pectin crystals.

Simmer for another 20 minutes. Cool chutney to room temperature.

Pour into sterilized jars, leaving 1/2 inch (1 cm) head space; seal (To sterilize jars, place both lids and jars in boiling water for 15 minutes before filling).
