Food an important aspect to family reunions
(NC) - A national survey has found that family reunions are synonymous with food; 78 per cent of Canadians say eating is the main activity at their family reunions. Enjoying the food is also the second most offered reason for attending a family reunion (33 per cent). Only the chance to reconnect with the family was ranked higher at 89 per cent.
The survey, conducted by Decima Research on behalf of Strub's Pickles, in celebration of their 75 years as a family-owned and operated business, found that more than 70 per cent of Canadians have attended a family reunion and that 48 per cent of Canadians have plans to attend another one within the next two years.
"Food plays an important part in family celebrations," said Arnie Strub, Vice-President of Marketing for Strub's Pickles. "Our research shows that pickles are most often consumed at family get-togethers."
In honour of their 75th Anniversary, Strub's has created this summer-fresh salad dressing featuring their Original Kosher Dill Pickle, the pickle the company was founded on in 1929. The recipe has been Strub family taste-tested and approved and is the perfect salad dressing for any family get-together.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 2 tbsp Strub's Kosher Dill Pickle brine (from jar)
- 2 tsp white vinegar
- 2 tsp white sugar
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp chopped fresh dill
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard
Directions:
Whisk together all ingredients in a small bowl or place in a glass jar and shake to combine.
Toss with fresh mixed greens and homemade croutons.
Serving Size: Makes About 1/2 Cup Of Dressing
