Toffee Apples

Contributed by: News Canada

Halloween is so much more fun with these delicious caramel apples that little hobgoblins and ghosts can dip and eat themselves!

  • 3 bars (56 g each) Mackintosh's(r) Creamy Toffee
  • 1 tbsp water 15 mL
  • 4 small apples
  • Wooden sticks
  • Smarties(r) candy-coated chocolate pieces, toasted oat cereal, chopped pecans and/or coconut (optional)

Smack wrapped toffee on counter to break bars. Unwrap and place in 1-cup (250 mL) glass measure; add water. Microwave on High 1 to 2 minutes or until boiling, stirring once. Stir until smooth.

Pierce apples with sticks. Dip into melted toffee, twirling to coat. Before toffee hardens, decorate with candies, cereal pieces, nuts or coconut if desired. Set on waxed paper-lined tray; chill for 3 to 4 minutes to set toffee. Store in refrigerator.

Serving Size: Makes 4 toffee apples
