(NC) - Impress your guests over the holidays with this delicious salsa appetizer. So simple - it takes only minutes and it's all completed with one essential appliance - a food processor. Hamilton Beach®, makers of the Big Mouth food processor suggest this mouth watering recipe. "Most people underestimate the versatility of the food processor", comments Louise Sauvé-Nicholls, Director of Marketing, "you can use a food processor to chop ingredients for appetizers or main courses, to puree sauces or even mix a cheesecake.

  • 1 onion, peeled and quartered
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 hot pepper (jalapeno or finger hot), cored, seeded and quartered
  • 4 tomatoes, quartered
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hot sauce, optional


Using S-blade and with processor running, drop onion, garlic clove, and hot pepper through the food chute and chop until finely minced. Stop processor.

Add tomatoes, cilantro, cumin, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Pulse until desired texture. Add hot sauce if desired.

Serve with white corn chips and blue corn chips to add colour and variety to this delicious appetizer.
