Contributed by: News Canada (NC) - Make this time-saving dessert up to two days before the big event. Fruits give a touch of festive colour to holiday desserts. If figs are not available, use fresh pineapple cubes, mandarin segments or strawberries to make this easy and elegant dessert. Ingredients:
Directions: Pour milk into a small saucepan and sprinkle with gelatin; let stand for 5 minutes to soften. Warm over very low heat, stirring, until gelatin dissolves. Set aside. Meanwhile, in another saucepan, stir cream and sugar over medium heat until sugar dissolves and bubbles start to form around the edge. Remove from the heat and stir in gelatin mixture. Whisk in 1/3 cup (75 mL) Absolut Vanilia. Pour into 6 stemmed glasses. Cool, cover and refrigerate until set, about 4 hours or up to 2 days. Alternatively, pour into six 1/3 cup (75 mL) moulds. Just before serving, place moulds in warm water for a few seconds and then run a sharp knife around the inside edge of each. Unmould onto small plates. To make the honey drenched figs, place figs in a heatproof bowl. Warm honey and 2 tbsp (25 mL) Absolut Vanilia together and pour over figs. Let stand at least 1 hour to cool. To serve, spoon figs and liquid over panna cotta, or if you have unmoulded them, spoon around each. Serving Size: Makes 6 Servings |
