Contributed by: Jerry Grozelle Works well for Moose too! Ingredients:
Directions: First, bag a deer (or moose). Make sure the season is open (consult Hunting Summary) and you have all the necessary permits and licenses - a valid Possession Acquisition Licence, Possession Only License or Firearms Acquisition Certificate - as well as Outdoors Card, the appropriate deer (or moose) licence and Firearms registration certificates. In a cast iron skillet, brown venison cubes with a liberal amount of garlic, steak spice of your choice and Mrs. Dash (Original) and the diced onion. When the meat is browned, about 10 minutes - usually by the time the onions are tender - transfer to a crock pot. Add potatoes, carrots, diced tomatoes and the quartered onion. Cook in crock pot for about six hours or even longer on low heat, stirring occasionally. If the mixture starts to dry, a bit of water can be added. Serves about four or five people or two really hungry people who have tramped the woods all day in search of deer (or moose). Beef can be substituted if you are not a very good hunter or don't know somebody who is. |
