So that Canadians can reap the benefits of whole grains, Canada's Food Guide recommends that at least half of all grain products that we eat each day should be whole grains. Sadly, according to an Ipsos Reid poll from 2008, 6 out of 10 Canadians are not getting enough whole grains.
Reading food labels will help you identify whole grain foods. But be careful. Foods that claim to be "multi-grain", "100% wheat" or even "high fibre" are not necessarily whole grain. Look for the words "whole grain" or "whole" to ensure you are getting the benefits of the whole kernel of grain. Here is a great whole grain way to start your day off that is sure to please you and your family. This and other great recipes can be found at www.lifemadedelicious.ca.
