(NC) - Valentine's Day is not just for lovers, it is a chance for friends to get more acquainted and just like other matchmakers we know and love, it
may also be the perfect time to encourage a budding romance, or two. So if you have plans to
throw a cocktail party, here are a few tried-and-true recipes from a very good source.
Ingredients:
16-18 oz. (500 -- 650 mL) Cognac
1 large block of ice
3 chilled bottles Spanish sparklingwine, like Freixenet Carta Nevada, or Cordon Negro
Brut
Maraschino cherry juice for sweetness and color (optional).
Place peeled fruit in large punch bowl and add cognac. Add the block of ice, the sparkling
wine and the sparkling water. Stir briefly so as not to flatten bubbles. Add a dash of maraschino
cherry juice, if desired. Serve in chilled wine glasses or punch cups.
Serving Size: Makes approximately 25-30, 150 mL. servings.
