Sweet-Sour Sauce

  • 2 tblsp. cornstarch
  • l/2 cup vinegar
  • l/2 cup water
  • l/4 cup orange juice
  • l cup canned crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • l l/2 tblsp. chili sauce or catsup
  • l tblsp. salad oil (optional)
  • l/2 tsp. MSG
  • l/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 medium-size tomatoes, chopped
  • l green pepper, chopped (optional)


Mix cornstarch and vinegar to a paste. Gradually stir in rest of ingredients except tomatoes and green pepper. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Add remaining ingredients. Bring sauce to a boil.

Simmer, covered, for l0 minutes.
