Soy Honey Glazed Chicken Breasts

Chicken glazed with sweet-savory sauces such as this can be broiled, but charcoal cooking enhances the flavor. Cook the chicken just until done through to prevent drying out.


  • 2 chicken breasts, split, 1 pound each
  • 1/4 cup minced scallions
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger root (optional)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • Orange Peel Barbecue Sauce


Skin chicken breast pieces. Combine scallions, garlic, honey, sherry, ginger root, and soy sauce. Dip chicken in sauce, then place in plastic bag and pour in remaining sauce. Close bag and marinate at room temperature 30 minutes to one hour.

Grill over hot coals, turning as needed to prevent charring and to cook evenly. Grill until just done, about 25 minutes. Brush with sauce as needed to keep moist. Heat any remaining sauce and serve with chicken and hot cooked rice.
