Mushroom Gravy

  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms (about 3 1/3 cups)
  • 2 tablespoons meat or poultry drippings (or butter or margerine)
  • 1/2 cup chopped oinion
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • generous dash pepper


In a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, in hot drippings, cook mushrooms and onion until tender, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile, in a cup, gradually blend water into flour until smooth. Stir flour mixture into mushrooms; cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.

Stir in salt and pepper.

Serving Size: Makes 1 1/2 cups of gravy
