Summer Marinades

(NC) - Try these fast and easy do-it-yourself marinade recipes:

Prep time: 5 minutes

Chili Garlic Marinade

  • 1/4 cup (50 mL)Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) each chili powder and crushed garlic

Red Wine Marinade

  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
  • 6 tbsp (90 mL) red wine
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) brown sugar
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) Worcestershire sauce
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Fresh Herb Marinade

  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
  • 4 tbsp (60 mL) lemon juice
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 finely sliced onion
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) chopped fresh marjoram
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) chopped fresh parsley

Combine all ingredients. Pour marinade over meat in a sealable plastic bag or covered container. Let sit in refrigerator for 30 minutes to 24 hours.

Makes approximately 1/2 cup (125 mL).
