(NC) - Dessert has never been simpler... or more nutritious. Our recipe for Baked Apples is fat free, and there's fibre in the apples and the oats.


  • Filling:

      Baked Apples
    • 1/4 cup Robin Hood Minute Oats 50mL
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar 50mL
    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon 2mL
    • Pinch allspice pinch
    • 4 firm apples 4
    • 3/4 cup unsweetened apple juice 175mL


Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C).


Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.


Wash and dry apples. With a sharp knife, slice 1/2" (1cm) off the top of each apple and set aside. With the knife tip, cut around the core and then use a metal spoon to scoop out the rest of the core, making sure to leave the bottom intact (like a cup).

Fill each apple with 1 - 2 tbsp of filling (15-30mL) and cover with reserved apple tops. Place filled apples in 9 x 13 (23cm x 33cm) baking pan, and sprinkle with any remaining filling. Pour apple juice in bottom of pan. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350 F (180 C) for 40 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for 15 to 20 minutes.
