Chili Peanut Popcorn

(NC) - Peanuts and popcorn come together to create the ultimate cocktail munchie. Serve as a crowd-pleasing appetizer at your next holiday open house, or wrap up this treat for a creative hostess gift.
- 1/3 cup salted peanuts 75 mL
- 1/2 tsp chili powder 2 mL
- 1/2 tsp peanut oil 2 mL
- 2 tbsp popping corn 25 mL
- fresh lemon juice
In heavy-bottomed saucepan set over medium heat; toast peanuts until golden. Place peanuts in bowl. Sprinkle chili powder over warm peanuts; toss to coat.
In same saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add popping corn and cover saucepan. Cook over medium heat, shaking pan occasionally, until the popping stops.
Stir popped corn into chili peanuts. Add more chili powder, if desired, and lemon juice to taste just before serving.
