Chinese Pepper Steak

Ramen noodles, orange juice and hot chili flakes offer an exciting twist!
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil 15 mL
- 2 green peppers, slivered 2
- 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into strips 500 g
- 1 carrot, slivered 1
- 1 clove garlic, minced 1
- 1/2 cup water 125 mL
- 1 onion, sliced 1
- 2 pkgs (3 oz/85 g) beef flavor instant Ramen noodles 2
- 1 tsp chopped fresh gingerroot 5 mL
- 1/4 tsp chili pepper flakes 0.5-1 mL
Sauce: 2 tbsp (30 mL) soy sauce, 1 tbsp (15 mL) orange juice, 2 tsp (10 mL) liquid honey and grated
rind of 1/2 orange.
In large skillet, heat oil; add beef and stir-fry quickly in batches until no longer pink in centre.
Remove beef; set aside. Add garlic, onion, gingerroot and chili pepper flakes to skillet; saut quickly. Add
green peppers, carrot and water. Cover and cook 2 to 3 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Reserve
seasoning packets from Ramen noodles; cook noodles as directed on package; drain and set aside.
Sprinkle 1 seasoning packet over vegetables; reserve remaining packet for another use. Combine sauce
ingredients; add to skillet. Bring to a boil. Place noodles on serving platter; top with pepper steak
Serving Size: Makes 4 servings.
