Have A Frothy Fourth

Contributed by: Laura Quarantiello

No beverage is more American than root beer. Root Beer history goes back to well before the Declaration of Independence to the discovery of the American continent! So what better treat to include in your Fourth of July celebration?

In addition to six packs (or even a case or two if you're planning a big party or picnic) -and an ice-cold cooler to keep this good stuff well chilled, here's a refreshing root beer treat you can add to the festivities:

Fourth Of July Float

When most people think of root beer they think of the root beer float - a traditional summertime drink that goes great with picnics and family get-togethers. (Even though it's called a Fourth of July float there's no rule saying you can't enjoy it any time.). Note that the ingredients below will make just one serving, which will hardly be enough. You'll have to adjust the quantities depending upon how many orders you have to fill!]

  • 1/4 cup of root beer
  • 1 teaspoon of milk
  • 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream (or for a fun change, try Neapolitan ice cream)

Place the root beer and milk in a 10-ounce glass. Add a large scoop of ice cream and stir slightly. Add another 3/4 cup of root beer as necessary to fill the glass.

Ahhhhh!
