Mint Chip Spiders

Contributed by: News Canada

A good reason to "scream" for ice cream

(NC) - How can you improve on a scoop of vanilla ice cream? Add a chocolate, cream-filled cake, a few candies and a few squiggly legs to create a deliciously scary Mint Chip Spider from Breyers (www.homebasics.ca). Perfect for family reunions, dessert on the dock or children's birthday parties.

Ingredients:

    Mint Chip Spiders
  • 2 round, chocolate-covered, cream-filled cakes, each cut in half (2)
  • 2 scoops Breyers All Natural Vanilla Ice Cream, divided (2)
  • 1 tbsp marshmallow cream or vanilla frosting, divided (15 mL)
  • chocolate chips and chocolate syrup for decoration

Directions:

Arrange the bottom half of each of the cream-filled cakes, cut-side-up, on a dessert plate. Top each with a scoop of ice cream. Top with the remaining cake half, frosting-side up.

For "eyes", spoon two small dots of marshmallow cream onto the cake. Place a chocolate chip in the centre of each dot. For "legs", drizzle chocolate syrup on plate.

Serve immediately.
