Summer time-saver: easy icy desserts
(NC) - As temperatures rise outside, so does our desire for refreshing, frozen treats to beat the heat.
"An ice shaver is an absolute must-have if you have kids or do a lot of outdoor entertaining," says Louise Sauvé-Nicholls, marketing director for Hamilton Beach, the small appliance experts. "You can create everything from frozen slushies, snow cones, smoothies and iced desserts in just seconds."
Sauvé-Nicholls suggests these simple and fun recipes:
Freeze root beer. Shave into a cone or bowl and drizzle half-and-half cream over top.
Coffee Granita
Freeze 1 cup (250 ml) brewed coffee sweetened with 1 to 2 tablespoons (15 - 30 ml) of sugar. Shave into a cup or bowl.
