  • 1 3/4 cups Robin Hood All Purpose Flour 425 mL
  • 1 cup granulated sugar 250 mL
  • 1 cup butter 250 mL
  • 1 egg, beaten 1
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract 2 mL
  • 1 cup Smucker's Raspberry Jam 250 mL
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips 125 mL

In a bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender, until crumbly.

Add the egg and almond extract. Mix well. Set aside 1 cup (250 mL) of the mixture for the top. Press remaining dough in a greased 8" (20cm) square cake pan. Spread the jam on top. Sprinkle reserved crumbles over jam. Bake at 350 F (180 C) for 35 - 40 minutes or until light golden. Quickly sprinkle chocolate chips on top of warm square. Cool completely.
