Contributed by: NewsUSA (NewsUSA) - Do you have a mouth-watering, original chicken recipe? If so, it's time to get cooking. The 48th National Chicken Cooking Contest -; one of the nation's top competitive cooking events -; is underway, and you could be in the running for the grand prize of $50,000.
After the close of entries on Aug. 31, 2008, a winner will be selected from each of the fifty states and the District of Columbia. These winners will be awarded $100 and go on to be judged on a regional level. Nine regional winners will each receive $1,000 and go on to compete in person at the National Cook-Off on May 2, 2009, in San Antonio, Texas, for the $50,000 grand prize and a judge's choice prize of $10,000. "This is the first time we have had a regional level of competition," said Nancy Tringali Piho, contest director. "This allows more people to win prizes throughout the competition. In fact, a total of $74,100 will be awarded." Entries will be accepted on the Web at www.eatchicken.com, on paper at the National Chicken Cooking Contest, P.O. Box 27997, Washington, D.C. 20038-7997 or by fax at 202-293-4005. "The competition is easy to enter, a great way to compete against excellent cooks across the country and a wonderful opportunity to win prizes," said Piho. Visit www.chickencookingcontest.com for recipes from past contests and photos from last year's Cook-Off held in Birmingham, Ala. Additionally, check out the National Chicken Cooking Contest official cookbook. A special price of $3 postpaid is now being offered. Send cash, check or money order with your name and mailing address to: Chicken Cookbook, Dept. NCC-3, Box 307, Coventry, CT 06238. The contest is sponsored by the National Chicken Council, the chicken industry's trade association. |
