Trifle For Breakfast

Contributed by: News Canada

(NC) - Trifle for breakfast is especially good when it's made with delicious and nutritious ingredients such as granola, yogurt and juicy fresh fruit, providing 3 out of 4 food groups from Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating. If you have the time, and necessary ingredients you could make your own granola.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups granola 750 mL
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar 75 mL
  • 3 cups plain yogurt 750 mL
  • 4 cups mixed fruit 1 L
  • (grapes, sliced kiwifruit apples, pears, raspberries and banana and/or orange segments)

Directions:

Spoon granola into attractive 6- to 8-cup (1.5 to 2L) straight-sided bowl. Stir sugar into yogurt; pour over granola. (Trifle can be prepared to this point, covered and refrigerated for up to 1 hour.)

To serve, mound mixed fruit over yogurt.

Serving Size: Makes 10 to 12 servings
