Oriental Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1 small head of cabbage or lettuce, chopped
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 1 package instant ramen noodles i.e. Mr. Noodles (crushed and uncooked)
  • 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
  • 3/4 - 1 cup toasted slivered almonds

(Choose one of the three following dressings to go with the above ingredients.)

One

  • 3/4 cup salad oil
  • 2 tsp. soya sauce
  • 1 cup (try less and taste) white sugar
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar

Two

  • 1 pkg. of seasoning from noodles
  • 6 tbsp. vinegar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Three

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp w. vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup safflower or corn oil
  • 1 pkg of flavouring from soup noodles
  • ground pepper

Directions:

Blend dressing ingredients.

Toss dressing and salad together and allow to sit for at least half an hour.

Toss almonds, sesame seeds and crushed noodles with salad just before serving.
