Canada Day Ice Cream with Grilled Fruit Bread

Contributed by: Chris, WebAdmin. of RecipesNow.com

Treat yourself and friends or neighbours to this easy, grill-it-yourself dessert. Just set up the components and let people help themselves! Grocery store sliced raisin, fruit or egg bread works beautifully in this recipe. If you are lucky enough to have homemade or fresh bakery breads, be sure to slice the same thickness as purchased bread.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices fruit bread
  • 2 tbsp softened butter 25 mL
  • 1 container (500 mL) Häagen-Dazs® Cookie Dough
  • Dynamo or Dulce de Leche Ice Cream
  • 3/4 cup sliced fresh strawberries 175 mL
  • Icing sugar

Directions:

Spread both sides of each slice of bread with the softened butter. Heat a grill or skillet to medium-high heat. Grill buttered bread slices on each side for about 1 minute, or until golden brown. Place one slice of grilled bread on each of 4 serving plates. Scoop ice cream, dividing evenly, and place one scoop on each grilled bread slice. Top with some of the strawberries, and dust with icing sugar. Serve immediately.
