Tiki-tastic patio parties: Tips on hosting a memorable summer bash
(NC) - "Making a splash on patios across Canada, Tiki chic reigns as this summer's hottest entertaining trend," says Korey Kealey, food and entertaining specialist, Food Thought Communications.
The ultimate ingredients to any luau-inspired party are colourful and delicious Tiki-style drinks, like Tropical Creamsicle - garnished with a cocktail umbrella! This summer, everything old is new again, and these retro recipes have been updated with fresh and exotic ingredients.
"Creating a classic cocktail is easy with a powerful blender like the Oster Classic Beehive Blender," says Jamie Libregts, product manager, Jarden Consumer Solutions. "With its iconic detailing, the Beehive Blender not only makes a delicious blended drink, but also fits in with the retro theme."
Kealey offers these tips for hosting a terrific Tiki party:
- Send out fun, themed invitations before the party. For example, spraying invites with a great fruity scent will get your guests' attention.
- Transform your backyard into a tropical wonderland using string lights, blow-up palm trees and Tiki torches.
- To get the party started, plan interactive activities like a limbo contest and hula dancing lessons. Don't forget to blast some summer-themed music.
- Ask guests to dress in Tiki-style - think loud Hawaiian shirts, brightly-coloured leis and grass skirts.
