Make-Ahead Baked French Toast

Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs 3
  • 1 can (385 mL) Carnation® Evaporated Skim Milk 1
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar 25 mL
  • 2 tbsp thawed orange juice concentrate 25 mL
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1 mL
  • 8 thick slices Italian bread 8
  • Maple syrup

Directions:

In medium bowl, beat together eggs, evaporated milk, sugar, orange juice concentrate and cinnamon. Place bread slices in single layer in large shallow glass dish. Pour egg mixture over bread; turn slices over once. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour or until liquid is absorbed (or overnight).

Line baking sheet with foil and coat well with nonstick cooking spray; place soaked bread in single layer on sheet. Spray each slice with light coating of cooking spray. Bake in 425°F (220°C) oven for 10 minutes. Turn slices over; bake for 5 to 10 minutes longer or until golden. Serve with maple syrup.

Tip:

Use a dense white bread that won't fall apart when soaked.
