Grilled Chocolate Bananas

Contributed by: News Canada

(NC) - Whether it's a picnic in your own backyard, or a special camping trip, celebrate the event with Dad by barbequing this wacky, simply delicious, no fuss dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe bananas, unpeeled
  • 2 (42 g) Nestlé® Aero Chocolate Bars broken into 16 even sized pieces
  • 1 container (500 mL) Häagen-Dazs® Butter Pecan Ice Cream

Directions:

Using a small sharp knife, cut a slit along the inside curve of each banana, through the skin and fruit. Push 4 pieces of chocolate into opening. Tightly wrap each stuffed banana in aluminum foil.

Preheat a grill to medium-high, or oven to 400oF (200oC). Barbecue the foil-wrapped bananas for 15 to 20 minutes, or until skin blackens, and banana is soft. Unwrap the foil packet, open the banana, and place a large scoop of ice cream in the centre of each. Serve immediately.
